Resumen

Una serie de estudios ha identificado diferencias en el apego adulto entre hombres y mujeres, con resultados han sido mixtos en cuanto a la dirección de estas variaciones. Esta inconsistencia podría estar relacionada con el efecto de variables moderadoras, tópico que requiere una mayor exploración. El presente estudio aborda este vacío evaluando las diferencias en la ansiedad y evitación en el apego entre hombres y mujeres, y si factores como la etapa de la adultez, orientación sexual y estatus de pareja moderan estas diferencias. Para ello, se evaluó una muestra de 15,422 adultos chilenos, con edades entre 18 y 82 años, quienes completaron la Escala de Experiencias en Relaciones Cercanas. Los resultados muestran que, en promedio, las mujeres reportan más ansiedad que los hombres, mientras que estos presentan mayor evitación. Sin embargo, estas diferencias están condicionadas por la etapa de la adultez, la orientación sexual y el estatus de pareja. Los resultados de este estudio resaltan la importancia de considerar factores contextuales y demográficos para comprender de manera más precisa las diferencias de apego entre hombres y mujeres en la adultez.
